ALAMOSA, Colo. (January 10, 2015) — By way of another decisive win, Adams State University continues to climb back into the thick of Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) conversations by taking down New Mexico Highlands University, 100-59, on Saturday night from Plachy Hall Gym. The Grizzlies began the game on a 12-0 run and never looked back and improve to 8-4, 5-4 RMAC.
For the second consecutive game every player on the active roster scored for ASU with four finishing in double figures.
Mikey Hope, in just his fourth game after returning from injury, led the way with a game-high 17 points. The senior was cooler than the other side of the pillow from downtown by shooting 4-of-6 from three.
As a team the Grizzlies shot a healthy 54 percent (35-of-64) from the field and have now shot over 50 percent from the field in three of their past four games. Their success extended into three-point range at 52 percent (9-of-17).
Defensively, ASU kept the Cowboys off the scoreboard for nearly four minutes after the tip and went on to keep NMHU in single digits for over half of the opening stanza.

Adams State controlled the lead for the entire duration of Saturday's contest and held the edge in several statistical categories. The Grizzlies held the advantage in bench points (61-17), points off turnovers (38-8), second chance points (14-11), and points in the paint (32-18).
The lead grew to as much as 43 after a pair of
Bryan Umoru free throws with 2:29 remaining in the game. As the final buzzer sounded, ASU's secured a 41 point margin of victory – their second largest of the season.
The Cowboys were held to 35 percent shooting from the floor as Jonathon Mines chipped in 12 points to lead NMHU.
Next up for ASU is a weekend trip up north to Denver for a pair of conference games against Metropolitan State University of Denver and Regis University. The Grizzlies will meet Metro State first on Jan. 16 at 7:00 p.m.
