ALAMOSA, Colo. (January 22, 2015) – Jerry Huff and Mark Mabry, Jr. added wins for Adams State University in their conference dual with No. 11 Western State Colorado University but ultimately fell short, 43-10, on Thursday night from Plachy Hall Gym. The dual loss moves ASU to 0-5 overall and 0-5 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) action.

Huff began the night at 125 with a convincing win via a fall at 4:20 over Western State's Trenton Piatt. Huff concludes his weekly home slate of matches with a 2-0 record after a 9-1 major decision the night before against Colorado Mesa University.

Mabry Jr. followed with a 10-0 major decision at 165 over Austin Harris. It was an impressive win as Harris entered the week with a 21-5 overall record. The redshirt senior opened and finished his match strong by collecting four points in the first period and six in the third.

Mabry Jr. and Huff were the only source of production against a stout Western State squad that carried three ranked grapplers highlighted by RMAC preseason wrestler of the year, Elliott Copeland (174).

The 43-10 win moves the Mountaineers to 8-1, 4-0 RMAC.

The Grizzlies return to the mat Jan. 29 against New Mexico Highlands University at 7:00 p.m. in Las Vegas N.M. The team then travels to Edmond, Okla. for a dual with the University of Central Oklahoma on Jan. 31 at 2:00 p.m.

The next home dual for ASU is slated for Feb. 6 against Chadron State College.
