ALAMOSA, Colo. (January 27, 2015) – Adams State University eclipsed the century mark and established a new season-high for single-game point production with a convincing 113-39 win over Northwest Indian College. The 39 points allowed also marked a single-game best for the Grizzlies this season.
Adams State shot an identical 58 percent (23-39) for each half and led by as much as 74 in the program's last non-conference affair of the regular season. The win improves ASU to 11-6 overall as the Eagles drop to 4-13 with the loss.
Senior
Mikey Hope led all players with 23 points in a reserve role and paced an ASU bench that racked up a season-high 73 points. Senior
Mike Hemsley chipped in a highly effective 14 points and 10 rebounds in a mere 12 minutes of play for his second double-double of the year. Freshman
Tyler Cooper also collected a double-double with 14 rebounds and 11 points. It marked Cooper's first collegiate double-double.
Travante Williams and
Marcus Hall added 17 and 15 points, respectively.
Just like the Grizzlies, the Eagles also ended the night with identical shooting marks for each half. However, NIC's numbers proved to be significantly lower at 21 percent (5-23 for each half). Mike Schajang Jr. led the Eagles with 15 points in defeat.
After tonight's rare Tuesday night contest, ASU now shifts focus back to Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) play. The Grizzlies are set to host Fort Lewis College on Saturday (Jan. 31) at approximately 7:30 p.m.
