EDMOND, Okla. (January 31, 2015) Adams State University wrestling continued their road trip with a Saturday afternoon dual against the No. 12 University of Central Oklahoma Bronchos. The Grizzlies struggled to the tune of a 46-3 defeat. The loss moves ASU to 0-7 overall in dual contests.

Jerry Huff continued his individual win streak over UCO's Zac D'Amico at 125. The first period saw just one score as Huff gained a late takedown. The second began with Huff on bottom, gaining a quickly timed escape point for the boys in green and white. From there, Huff took control; gaining a handful of take downs. Huff rode out the final buzzer to gain an 8-3 victory.

At 141,
J.C. Henderson confronted Will Steltzlen. The UCO freshman ended the match quickly, pinning Henderson :37 into the first period.

The Bronchos continued as Spencer Ruthorford delivered the second UCO pin over
Devin Vasquez in the 149 division.

Jacob Deaguero showed early promise at 157 as he stood toe-to-toe against Jeromy Davenport. After a quite first and second period, Davenport got the best of Deaguero in the third to earn a 10-1 major decision.

Mark Mabry, Jr. took the mat next for the Grizzlies to face UCO's Colton Gallo. The two seemed evenly matched as the first period passed with just one takedown score for Gallo. Continuing on, the second period saw yet another low scoring affair as Mabry Jr. earned the sole point of the period. The third period began in favor of Gallo at 2-1 with plenty of back-and-forth action between the two. Gallo ultimately added three more points in the final frame for a 5-1 win.

Mario Garcia was pinned by Caleb Hawes at 1:54.

Freshman
Amer Tipura took the mat next at 197 and put on a show in a narrow defeat to UCO's Mike Conner. Conner took the first period with a slim 4-2 edge, however, Tipura bounced back from every strike. Conner snagged two early takedowns but Tipura responded with a pair of escapes. Conner came away with an escape point in the second and added a take down and riding time in the third for an 8-4 win over Tipura.

Lastly,
Austin Andrade faced Kyle Factor at 285. Factor and Andrade traded off throughout the first period with Factor gaining two takedowns, both countered by a solid Grizzly escape via Andrade's strong standups. Early in the second, UCO's freshman showed to be too much for Andrade and picked up a pin halfway through the period.

The Grizzlies would forfeit at 133 and 165 to bring the dual to its final score of 46-3.
The boys in green and white look to right the ship at home against Chadron State College on Feb. 6
th in Plachy Gym at 6pm.
