MSOC | Dennis Nets Goal During 4-1 Loss To ThunderWolves

PUEBLO, Colo. (October 11, 2015) - The Adams State University men's soccer team returned to conference play Sunday with a game against Colorado State University-Pueblo. The Grizzlies dropped the affair, 4-1.

Adams State (1-9-1, RMAC 1-4-1) edged CSU-Pueblo in shots, 13-11, as both teams registered 5 shots on goal. However, it's what the teams did with their opportunities that separated the two RMAC foes. The ThunderWolves (6-6, 2-4 RMAC) turned their five chances into four goals while Adams State was limited to just one.

The ThunderWolves struck first off a corner chance by Mackenzie Paquette in the 30th minute. Paquette was all over, netting two goals and assisting on a third. CSU-Pueblo quickly extended their lead to 2-0 with Sam Glawe's fourth of the year two minutes later.

The ASU substitutes came in and went right to work to cut the lead to one. J.J. Dennis received an assist from Luke Tebo to notch his first goal of the year. The match ultimately went into halftime with CSU-Pueblo ahead, 2-1.

In the second half CSU-Pueblo continued to overwhelm Adams State notching a third goal; this one a penalty kick from Matt Marchena who has accounted for 7 goals this season. Paquette then added a coffin nail with five minutes left to play to bring the contest to its 4-1 conclusion.

The Grizzlies are now in the home stretch of their season with 6 games left (4 RMAC matches).

ASU will play the first of a two game home stand on Friday against the Colorado Christian University Cougars (1-11, 1-7 RMAC). The Cougars lone win came against the Hardrockers of South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. CCU currently occupies the bottom spot in the RMAC and may present an opportunity for ASU to right their conference ship before facing the undefeated Colorado School of Mines on Sunday, Oct. 18.

ASU and CCU are set to clash on Friday, Oct. 16 at 3 p.m. in Alamosa. For live stats follow along at www.asugrizzlies.com
