ALAMOSA, Colo. (October 18, 2015) – The Adams State University men's soccer program hosted No. 8 Colorado School of Mines at the ASU Soccer Complex on Sunday.
Adams State (1-10-2, 1-5-2 RMAC) closed their two-game home stand on a low note with a 2-0 defeat to the Orediggers.
Adams State kept within reach against the conference leading, and undefeated, Colorado School of Mines (11-0-2, 9-0-1 RMAC).
The Orediggers got on the board twelve minutes in with Richard Garvey's ninth goal of the season. ASU's
Austin Baumeister would then go on to save another four shots keeping the Grizzlies within reach until CSM got the clincher with 15 minutes left to play from Ryan Leach for his fifth of the season.
The Grizzlies managed two shots and one on goal; both occurring in the second half. One came from
Mario Castro that went high with the other off the foot of
Symon Fabbricatore and into the arms of CSM keeper Collin Hall.
This game marked the final RMAC game for the Orediggers who remained perfect in conference play after Sunday's match. As for Adams State, they still have two more conference games on the schedule both within the cozy confines of Alamosa. The first against University of Colorado at Colorado Springs on Oct. 30th. The other against the Roadrunners of Metropolitan State University of Denver on November 1st.
Next for the Grizzlies are the Cougars of Colorado Christian University on Oct.23 before facing Colorado School of Mines again on Oct. 25. ASU faced both squads this week at home in conference affairs. However, the upcoming matches will be on the road and considered non-conference meetings.
ASU and CCU will meet up at 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 23 in Lakewood. Links for live coverage of that game can be found at www.asugrizzlies.com
