MSOC | Program Notches 3-2 Win Over Cougars

ALAMOSA, Colo. (October 23, 2015) – The Adams State University men's soccer team traveled to meet the Colorado Christian University Cougars on Friday in a rematch of last week's game.

This time the scoreboard was lit up and a winner was decided as Adams State (2-10-3, 1-5-2 RMAC) earned their second win of the season, 3-2. However, Friday's match was a non-conference game and will only affect the overall records for both programs.

Colorado Christian (1-13-1, 1-7-1 RMAC) started the action six minutes in with a goal off of a penalty try by Joe Wilkes which was good for his second on the season. The Grizzlies brought things even with a header goal by Joseph Vasquez two minutes later.

ASU then took the lead when Symon Fabbricatore made his second on the season off a penalty goal in the 22nd minute. The lead, however, was short lived when two minutes later Colorado Christian's Sam Walberer went on to tie it all up again, 2-2, with a rebound chance that found the net.

The second half slowed to a crawl and neither team found an advantage until J.J. Dennis got the only goal of the second half with 23 minutes left to play. The end stats showed just how well these two teams matched up. However, the Grizzlies owned the edge on the shots (23-18) and shots on goal (12-8).

The Grizzlies will continue their road trip this weekend with a rematch of last Sunday's game against the Orediggers of Colorado School of Mines. This game will take place in Golden and will also be a non-conference game against a conference opponent. The Orediggers  have already locked up a RMAC Championship berth and also clinched the RMAC regular-season title.

Coverage starts at 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 25 in Golden. Links for live coverage of that game can be found at www.asugrizzlies.com
