WSOC| Grizzlies fall to Rangers 3-1 on Senior Day

Box Score ALAMOSA, Colo. (October 25, 2015)—On what was Adams State's senior day and their last regular season home game of the 2015 campaign, The Grizzlies' women's soccer team hosted the Regis University Rangers. Unfortunately, The Grizzlies couldn't get past a tough Regis defense and dropped the game 3-1.

Before the start of the game, Adams State recognized their three seniors Carissa Sidor, Morgan Kuehl, and Molly O'Connor. All three were starters in the match.

Regis got the first shot off of the match-up with Catherine Anger's shot that was wide. Regis was quick to the draw with two more shots, but they couldn't find the back of the net. O'Connor got her hand on one of the shots to tally her first save of the contest.

Dezirae Armijo tried to put Adams State on the board early, but was denied by the Rangers' goalkeeper Kat Crump. Armijo would then receive a corner-kick, but nothing would come of it.

Anger would get a corner kick that would result in a header goal by Sade Akindele in the thirteenth moment of the game. Regis would take an early 1-0 over the Grizzlies. Just two minutes later and after having her first shot blocked, Sid Otto would give Regis a 2-0 lead.

Adams State would fight valiantly with Armijo, Julianna Wright, Courtney Miknis, Lacey Daniel, and Sloan Foster all taking shots on net, but it wouldn't be enough as going into halftime, the score would remain 2-0.

After the first, the Grizzlies tallied eight shots on net, to Regis' six. O'Connor would make one save.

Armijo would put the Grizzlies on the board just eight minutes into the second period of play with a shot that went straight though Crump's hands. Adams State would close the gap with the score being 2-1.

Hope Cruz and Arin Seidlitz would try and even the game up, but wouldn't capitalize off of their shots. Even though the Grizzlies tried to fight back, they just couldn't stop the charging Ranger offense, as Regis once again took a two-goal lead over the Grizzlies in the eighty-third minute of play. This would result in the final score of 3-1.

The Grizzlies tallied ten shots in the second period for a total of eighteen shots. Nine of these shots ended up on target. With O'Connor facing two saves in the second for a total of three on the day.

Daniel would lead Adams State with four shots, with Miknis,Foster and Armijo close behind with three.  Arin Seidlitz,Wright, Kuehl, Cruz, and Shelby McBain would all earn one shot.

The Grizzlies take to the pitch next on October 30th, 2015 when they travel to Gunnison to take on the Western State University Mountaineers in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) match-up. The game is set to begin at 3:00 pm.
