ALAMOSA, Colo. (October 30, 2015) – The low temperatures brought ill tidings for the Grizzlies when Adams State University met University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.
Adams State (2-11-2, 1-6-2 RMAC) allowed three goals in a shut-out loss to the Cougars (12-4, 7-2 RMAC) when the two clubs met on Friday. The win puts UCCS in a position to defend a home field berth next week against Fort Lewis.
The Grizzlies let off 8 shots, 4 of which were on goal. The Grizzlies also had 9 opportunities from the corner. The Cougars' J.R Calhoun showed out getting two shots past ASU's keeper
Austin Baumeister. Calhoun's first came with 26 seconds left in the first half. The junior didn't wait long to strike again putting in another less than a minute into the second half. Thirteen minutes later Josh Berntsson tacked his own on the scoreboard to bring the game to its 3-0 final score.
A home match against the Roadrunners of Metropolitan State of Denver on Sunday will close out the Grizzlies' season. Metro State comes to Alamosa with a 2-1 win over Fort Lewis in their pocket. Fort Lewis, meanwhile, will close out their season at home against UCCS. All three- FLC, MSUD and UCCS-have locked up postseason spots.
