SALT LAKE CITY (October 4, 2015) – The Adams State University men's soccer team was on the road on Sunday to face the Westminster College Griffins from Dumke Field.
Westminster got things started with a goal in the first half from Hunter Kone, his first of the season. Adams State (1-7-1, 1-3-1 RMAC) wasn't out of it though and
Aaron Fox contributed his first goal of the season to bring things even just six minutes into the second half.
The score would remain 1-1 through the end of regulation and two overtime periods for a finish that left Westminster still in search for their first conference win. Meanwhile the Grizzlies were denied their second conference victory of the season.
The Grizzlies and Griffins combined for a total of seven warnings as ASU's
Symon Fabbricatore received a red card in the second overtime period.
The Grizzlies worked all game long and earned scoring chances. ASU put 10 shots on goal sneaking one past WC's goalkeeper Taylor Ruff. They also did a good job limiting Griffin scoring chances; limiting WC to four shots on goal. For the Grizzlies, shooting was a team effort. Three players;
Aaron Fox,
Benjamin Gibble and
Cody Weisenberger each registering two shots on goal.
Up next for Adams State are the Fort Lewis Skyhawks who are fresh off a 3-0 loss at the hands of Colorado Mesa University.
Adams State and Fort Lewis will meet on the ASU Soccer Field at 12pm on Wednesday. Follow along with live stats provided by www.asugrizzlies.com.
