ALAMOSA, Colo. (October 7, 2015) -- Despite out shooting the No. 15 ranked Fort Lewis College Skyhawks 7-0 early in the first half of Wednesday's Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) match up, the Adams State University women's soccer team was unable to cash in and dropped the game, 1-0.Â
Early in the game Adams State appeared to control the tempo as they were able to shoot the ball at their will. The Grizzlies outshot the Skyhawks 9 to 6 in the first half before both teams took six shots in the second half. Throughout the entire game both teams had five shots on goal.
Adams State had several opportunities as they had six corner kicks in the game; three in the first half and three in the second. Meanwhile, Fort Lewis only tallied two in the first half.Â
In net, Adam State's goalkeeper Molly O'Connor made four saves as Skyhawk goaltender, Kodie Johnson, made five.Â
The lone goal for the Skyhawks came in the 59th minute as Carolyn Archer scored a rocket with an assist from Courtney Riley.
The Grizzlies, who are 4-4-3 overall and 2-4-1 in RMAC play will return to action on Friday when they travel to Lakewood to take on the Colorado Christian University. First kick is scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
