Box Score LAKEWOOD, Colo. (October 9th, 2015)—In a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) matchup, the Adams State University Grizzlies women's soccer team managed to pull off a 1-0 victory over host team, the Colorado Christian University Cougars.
Even though CCU got the first shot off, Adams State was able to counter that with a shot by
Shelby McBain, which was saved.
Elizabeth Anderson had a shot shortly after McBain, but her shot ended up wide of the Cougars' net.
Sloan Foster took a shot, but CCU goalkeeper Claire LaValley earned her second save of the game.
The first period of play saw the Grizzlies take six shots on net, while CCU only managed to take three. Grizzlies goalkeeper Molly O'Conner, was able to save the lone shot on net.
Dezirae Armijo started off the second period for the Grizzlies with corner kick that found
Natalie Wheelock, but the shot ended up high. However, only seconds later,
Lacey Daniel would capitalize off of a pass from Anderson to find the back of the Cougars' net with a perfect header to put ASU up 1-0 in the 49
th minute.
While the rest of the game was a back and forth battle, the Cougars' couldn't even the score, and the Grizzlies improved to 4-4-3 (2-4-1 RMAC) on the season.
The second half of the game saw the Grizzlies take fourteen shots on net, while the Cougars managed to get seven. Overall, O'Connor had a total of five saves.
The Grizzlies next take to the pitch on Sunday, October 11
th for an RMAC matchup against the Colorado School of Mines Orediggers. Play is set to begin at 12 pm.
