WBB| Grizzlies fall to Greyhounds 84-50 at Skyhawk Regional Classic

Box Score DURANGO, Colo. (November 13, 2015) — The Adams State University women's basketball team lost this afternoon in their first match-up of the Skyhawk Regional Classic, losing to  Eastern New Mexico University by an 80-54 score.
The Grizzlies (0-1) were led by junior Janette Brown's 11 points. The Greyhounds countered with two double digit scorers, highlighted by 14 points, three steals, three rebounds, and a perfect six-for-six performance from the charity strip from Miranda Moore.

The Green & White started their non-conference bout with a successful Cydney McHenry jump shot less than one minute into tipoff.  It proved to be Adams State's first and only lead of the game. The Greyhounds responded with a 14-6 run and entered halftime with a 38-25 lead over the Grizzlies.

A Greyhound advantage of a 17-0 points off of turnovers margin against the Grizzlies proved to disrupt the Grizzlies offensive mojo. Paralleled with ENMU's ability to get 13 points on the scoreboard on second chances alone had the Greyhounds primed for a red hot performance at in the third quarter.
After a solid first half performance, momentum was in complete favor for the Greyhounds. The offense shifted into another gear and relied heavily on a 41-28.6 shooting percentage to extend their lead.  The Greyhounds never allowed the Grizzlies to close the game within single digits and led by as much 21 points early in the third quarter.

"I felt the game got away from us early in the third quarter." Head coach Larry Joe Hunt said after the loss. "We fought hard and battled, but the damage was done in the first four minutes of the third.  Our rebounding has improved and we played hard at times, but we need better efforts from our bench at certain points in the game." In the first four minutes of the third quarter, ENMU outscored Adams by a 10-0 margin

Adams State shot 28.6 percent from the field (16-56), 29.4 percent from three-point territory (5-17), and 63 percent (17-27) from the free throw line. Eastern New Mexico shot 41 percent (25-61) from the field but benefited immensely with 39 points scored off of turnovers.  Adams State's bench outscored the Greyhounds' by a 36-34 margin.

The Grizzlies conclude their participation in the Skyhawk Regional Classic on Saturday at1:00 p.m. MST against Westminster College. Live stats and video will be accessible for fans by following www.asugrizzlies.com
