Box ScoreCOLORADO SPRINGS (November 6, 2015) – A difficult shooting night resulted in a 50-37 defeat for Adams State University against the Air Force Academy on Friday evening from Clune Arena.
In the exhibition loss, ASU shot 19 percent (13-66) from the field and suffered a 0-10 shooting performance to begin the second quarter. The offensive drought was ended with a
DeShea Wilkes three-pointer from the top of the key. The trifecta, unfortunately, would serve as the only source of offense for the frame.
In total, the Grizzlies tallied a 1-15 shooting mark in the second which propelled the Falcons to a 31-10 halftime lead.
Momentum shifted after the break as a small 4-0 ASU run in the third prompted an Air Force timeout. Later on, another Wilkes three-pointer moved ASU within 15 at 38-23.
After a slow start the Grizzlies went on to outscore the Falcons in both the third (14-10) and fourth (13-9) quarter. However the sluggish second quarter left Air Force with a double digit lead for the majority of the contest.
Wilkes led the Green & White with 12 points while picking up a game-high 7 steals.
Cydney McHenry chipped in 9 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals.
With exhibition play now over the Grizzlies shift to regular season tournament play at the Skyhawks Regional Challenge in Durango on Nov. 13-14. ASU will first play Eastern New Mexico University on Nov. 13
