ALAMOSA, Colo. (December 12, 2015) – A sluggish performance after halftime translated into an 83-61 defeat for Adams State University against No. 15 Colorado School of Mines on Saturday night.
The Grizzlies (3-5, 2-1 RMAC) trailed 34-32 at halftime before the Orediggers took control in the final stanza. A
Shakir Smith jumper on the first possession of the second period tied the game at 34-34 but Colorado Mines (7-2, 2-1 RMAC) responded with a 10-0 run. From that point the Grizzlies were only able to get within five points before the Orediggers expanded the lead into double-digits down the stretch.
Adams State shot 33 percent (7-21) from the field after halftime compared to 59 percent (16-27) for the Orediggers. Making matters worse for the Grizzlies was a season-low 2-of-12 mark from three-point range. The Orediggers, once again, settled on the opposite end of that spectrum by shooting 11-of-25 from beyond the arc.
Smith finished with a team-high 14 points as
EJ Hubbard II provided 12 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 blocks.
Gokul Natesan led Colorado Mines with 25 points behind a 6-of-13 mark from three-point territory. Kaan Korkmaz added 11 points as the duo of Joe Dellenbach and Garrett Loew each chipped in 10 points apiece.

th against rival Western State Colorado University. Tip-off is slated for 7:30pm from Gunnison.
The program's next home game will take place on January 1
