BB | Grizzlies Grab First Win Of Season

PORTALES, N.M. (February 8, 2015) Jaron Dorchinez and Dillon Bollig kick started Adams State University as the duo each picked up RBI doubles to lead the Grizzlies to a 6-4 win over Eastern New Mexico University on Sunday afternoon from Greyhound Field. Jeffrey Schmitt picked up the win in the non-conference affair that now gives ASU a 1-5 overall record.

Dorchinez's RBI double in the third came with the bases loaded to score Chris Morely. Dillon Granzella followed with a two RBI single to left that put the Grizzlies up, 3-0.
ENMU found the scoreboard in the bottom of the frame but ASU added two more insurance runs in the top of the fourth. For the inning, Bollig brought Jake Gonzales in to score from second with his RBI to right field. After a passed ball and a balk Bollig also crossed home plate for the eventually game winning run.

Schmitt exited the game in the fifth and finished with a final stat line of seven hits, three runs, and two strikeouts. The bullpen held the lead at the end as Ryan Richardson, Bailey Garcia, and Dylan Sherry all saw time on the mound. Sherry struck out the final batter of the game to pick up his first save of the season.

The Grizzlies are inactive until Feb. 20 when they begin a three game series in Goodwell, Okla. against Oklahoma Panhandle State University.
