BB | Season Ends In 10-1 Defeat To ThunderWolves

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (May 8, 2015) – It was a game that pitted a 1-1 score going into the sixth but a four-run seventh and a four-run eighth paved the way for a 10-1 loss for Adams State University against No. 16 Colorado State University-Pueblo.

Now eliminated from postseason play, Adams State completes their 2015 campaign with a 20-31 overall record highlighted by the program's first RMAC Tournament appearance since 1976.

The ThunderWolves found the scoreboard in the third inning after ASU pitcher J.D. Heredia cruised through the first and second inning.

However, the Grizzlies eventually produced the equalizer in the top of the fifth. With the bases loaded, CSU-Pueblo pitcher Thomas Bevington hit Dillon Bollig with a pitch allowing Marco Garmendia to jog in from third.

Heredia allowed one more run in the sixth before ASU turned to their bullpen. In his last career start for ASU the Las Cruces, New Mexico native fanned two batters and did not allow a walk.

The turn to the pen did not produced expect results as the Grizzlies utilized five relievers in a span of three innings. The offensive burst in the seventh and eighth for the ThunderWolves quickly put the game out of reach for ASU as CSU-Pueblo tallied eight runs on seven hits.

After scoring a run in the fifth, the Grizzlies managed to collect only two hits for the rest of the game. Further preventing run production was the fact ASU hit into a pair of double plays and left a total of seven runners on base.

Jaron Dorchinez and Quinn Tiernan each chipped in two hits during the season finale as Dillon Granzella provided the only extra-base hit via a double in the second inning. Heredia picked up the loss to move to 4-6.
