MSOC | Jackson & Fabbricatore Send Grizzlies To First Win

RAPID CITY, S.D. (September 18, 2015) – As the sun went down on Friday night the Adams State University men's soccer team earned their first win of the season against South Dakota School of Mines & Technology.

ASU (1-3) had been struggling, and was looking at the business end of a three game losing streak when they travelled north to South Dakota. SDSM&T (0-4-1) hadn't fared any better, still looking for their first win of the season. Something had to give, and on that night ASU edged SDSMT.

Ethan Jackson got things started for ASU with a solo goal ten minutes into the match. That marked his first of the season. The Grizzlies had a solid start and maintained control throughout the first half.

A true testament to the offensive press that Tim Busen, head coach, has cultured at Adams State, his Grizzlies kept the ball in Hardrocker territory for much of the night. SDSMT managed a mere six total shots. To their credit all six were on goal and one of the six notched a score. That goal by Sam Letempt brought things even for SDSMT at one goal apiece.

It looked like the Grizzlies and Hardrockers were set for overtime. That is until ASU's Symon Fabbricatore let off a solo that found its target with 90 seconds to play. Making it his first goal of the season and cementing the Grizzlies' first win.

Adams State fired everything that wasn't tied down at Hardrocker goalkeeper Jack Seifert, posting season high totals in both shots and shots-on-goal, (19 and 10 respectively). On the other side Austin Baumeister was well taken care of by his teammates, called to action for 5 saves.

With an conference win under their belt ASU will square off against the Regis University Rangers on Sunday afternoon. RU (1-2) is one year removed from a 13-6 season, which was good enough to clinch a berth to the RMAC Tournament.

Don't let their 1-2 record fool you, Regis' two losses came at the hands of the Colorado School of Mines and Fort Lewis who are a combined 7-2-1 and 3-0 in conference play. Follow along with Live Stats and Live Video.
