Box Score DENVER-(September 18, 2015)— The Adams State University Grizzlies women's volleyball team lost
tonight on the road in their first Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) matchup of the season against the Regis University Rangers in three sets. With
tonight's loss, the Grizzlies record falls to 1-8, 0-1 in RMAC play while the Rangers improve to 4-5 on the season, 1-0 in RMAC contests.
In
tonight's matchup, the Grizzlies lost via match scores of 25-17, 25-22, and 25-16. ASU struggled to string together offensive
consistency early in the first and third matches. With the offense struggling to mesh, the Grizzlies had trouble finding a defensive answer to the offensive firepower the Rangers had at their disposal. The trio of hitters Maggie Steward, Rachel McCue, and Katie Klein combined all together for 36 of Regis' 45 kills throughout the game. Klein led the team with 16 kills for the night. The second match proved to be the most exciting from a fan's prospective. The Grizzlies roared back from a six point deficit when the Rangers were leading ASU by a score of 20-14. The Grizzlies clawed back to close the score to 24-22 before the Regis snuffed the comeback thanks to an attacking era from Nina Moody-Bailey.
For the match,
Mallory Grimsrud led the team offensively with six kills and a hitting efficiency of .227.
Paitton Heltenberg contributed four kills while
Alex Parker cashed in three kills for the Grizzlies respectively.
Katelyn Schwartz had 10 assists on the night while
Briannah Mariner led the team with 10 digs—a season-best.
The Grizzlies travel to Chadron
tomorrow to face off against RMAC foe the Chadron State Eagles at
7 p.m.
