DURANGO, Colo. (September 23, 2015) – The Adams State University men's soccer team was on the road this Wednesday to face the Fort Lewis College Skyhawks on Dirks Field in Durango.
Adams State University (1-5-0, RMAC 1-2-0) was blanked for the second time in as many weeks in conference play by a score of 2-0. This week they were the victim of Fort Lewis (5-2-0, RMAC 3-0-0) who stayed perfect in the RMAC garnering wins over Regis and SDSM&T before hosting Adams State. With this win Fort Lewis now leads the RMAC.
For their part ASU was able to stay in the game in the first half, posting six shots to the Skyhawks, nine.
Austin Baumeister did a great job keeping his team within striking distance stopping three shots from finding their target. Baumeister ended his night with six saves. While on the other end FLC, Goalkeeper, Elliot Chadderton was kept relatively clean facing only two shots and stopping both.
The Grizzlies lost traction in the second half but found their accuracy. ASU seemed to struggle to get the ball in the attacking zone, managing four shots in that second half, but got their first of two shots on goal in the 77
th minute when substitutes,
Aaron Fox and
Luke Tebo, each registered their first shots. Fort Lewis seemed to find another gear and racked up 12 more shots in the second half. Fort Lewis got on the board with Tamino Kroeger contributing his fourth goal of the season as Zak Lawrence chipped in with his second.
The Grizzlies will get a break from travelling this Sunday when they welcome Colorado State University- Pueblo. Adams State will be looks in to two-game skid against the 4-2-0, RMAC 1-1 ThunderWolves. CSU Pueblo comes in on a high note after a 4-0 victory over Colorado Christian University.
