WSOC | Grizzlies Battle To 1-1 Double-Overtime Draw

ALAMOSA, Colo. (September 4, 2015) – The Adams State University women's soccer team christened the 2015 home schedule with a 1-1 double-overtime draw against Angelo State University on Friday afternoon.

The Grizzlies (0-0-1) were first to score thanks to junior Hope Cruz in the 82nd minute. Hope's lone shot of the match came off a Dezirae Armijo pass to put Adams State ahead, 1-0. The lead was short-lived as Angelo State responded with a goal by Selena Alvarez in the 84th minute.

Armijo went on to provide the only shot attempt by Adams State in both overtime periods as goalkeeper Molly O'Connor remained steady between the pipes while facing two shots during overtime play including a save.

O'Connor finished the season opener with nine saves as Armijo was the most active offensive threat totaling four shots with two on goal.

Angelo State held a 17-11 shot advantage for the match.

The Grizzlies take to the pitch on Sunday, Sept. 6 at 1pm against the University of Texas-Permian Basin in Alamosa.
