Box Score 2 CANYON, TX. (September 4th, 2015)-- The Adams State University volleyball season got under way earlier today down in Texas as the Grizzlies took part in the 2015 BritKare Lady Buff Classic hosted by West Texas A&M University.
The first match against Lubbock Christian University commenced at 11:00 am (MT), and saw the Grizzlies fall to the Chaparrals in four sets (25-18, 25-21,23-25, and 25-18). The third set saw Adams State victorious over Lubbock Christian 25-23 in a come from behind win. The Chaparrals led by up to three points at times, but the Grizzlies picked up the set win. It was
Mallory Grimsrud who recorded the set point with a service ace.
Leading the way for Adams State were
Paitton Heltenberg with 13 kills and Malloy Grimsrud with 4 block assists.
In the second match that started at 5:30 pm, the Grizzlies squared off against Dallas Baptist University, where Adams State fell in three sets to the Patriots (25-10, 25-15, and 25-22). The Grizzlies were led by Heltenberg, Grimsrud, and
Alex Parker who had 7 kills each.
