WBB| Allen's 23 points not enough against Eagles

Box Score ALAMOSA, Colo. (January 29, 2016)—Adams State University had their hands full on Friday evening against conference rival Chardon State College. The Eagles who were riding a three game winning streak entering Friday's game notched another win against the Grizzlies due to an electric, fast-paced offense that produced four double-digit scorers.

Chadron State College spoiled Cardelia Allen's career night with a 78-57 win over the Grizzlies and extends ASU's conference losing streak to ten with Friday's results.

The Grizzlies (2-15, 1-13 RMAC) were paced offensively by Cardelia Allen who scored a career-best 23 points off of 10-14 shooting and a perfect 3-3 from the charity stripe.  Allen also collected four rebounds and two steals against the Eagles and was consistent threat within the paint for the Green and White. Cydney McHenry and Nicole Broyles each collected 11 points, respectively, while Broyles led the team in rebounding with six.

Adams State shot an impressive 38.2 percent (13-34) in the opening stanza and trailed CSC by a 33-31 score heading into halftime.

The Eagle countered by shooting 42.3 percent (11-26) in the first half and shot for 60 percent (6-10) from beyond the three-point line.
In the second half the Eagles offensive production rose, as the team converted 60 percent (18-30) of their shots from the field in comparison to the Grizzlies 36.7 percent (11-30).  ASU's Allen cashed in seven of the Grizzlies eleven baskets in the second half and picked up 17 of her 23 points in the second stanza. A large part of their offensive success was due to Maka Daysh, who scored 14 of her 20 points in the second half alone. Her back-up Maddie Metzger, chipped in 12 points in the second half as well.

Adams State will host Regis University next on Saturday Jan. 30 from Plachy Hall. The game is slated for a 5:30 tip-off.
