GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (October 16th, 2016)— Two regulation periods weren't enough in Sunday's contest, as the Adams State University Grizzlies women's soccer team took on the Colorado Mesa University Mavericks earlier Sunday. The game ended up going into double overtime, with the Grizzlies falling to the Mavericks 2-1.
The fist period in regulation play saw both teams locked in a 0-0 draw, but in the eighty-sixth minute of play, a goal from
Elizabeth Anderson saw Adams State take a late 1-0 lead. Anderson was assisted by
Elaine Van de Wille, and
Shelby McBain to net her first goal of the season.
Unfortunately, Mesa would strike back with just sixteen seconds left on the clock.
The first overtime period once again saw the Grizzlies and the Mavericks in a stalemate. Colorado Mesa would manage to get three shots off, but Grizzly goalkeeper Teagan More would deny the shots.
The game would end in the 109
th minute of play, as the Mavericks would score the winning goal.
Nine different Adams State players would combine for all of the Grizzly shots, with
Shelby McBain,
Kendall Weld, and Anderson being the only three shots on goal.
Moore ended the day with a total of 8 saves, and played for all 109:38 of the match up.
Adams State will take on Fort Lewis College on October 23
rd for their last regular season road trip. The game is set to begin at 12:00 p.m. and live stats, video, and audio will be available for fans via
