DURANGO, Colo. (October 23rd, 2016)—The Adams State University women's soccer team wrapped up their final road game earlier Sunday, as they traveled to Fort Lewis College to take on the Skyhawks. The game went into double overtime, but in a battle of defense, the contest ended in a 1-1 draw.
Fort Lewis struck first with their goal in the twenty-first minute of play. This goal would be the lone goal of the first half.
In the sixty-seventh minute of play,
Elizabeth Anderson (assist
Shelby McBain), would score the tying goal. This would be Anderson's second goal of the season.
To end regulation time, McBain would take a corner kick, but it would not be on target.
The Grizzlies would get a plethora of shots in the first period of overtime, but a strong Skyhawk defense would prevent them from getting the winning goal, and thus, the game would be sent into double overtime.
Fort Lewis would get three consecutive shots off, but Grizzly goalkeeper,
Teagan Moore would stand strong against the charging Skyhawks.
Most of the Grizzly shots would come from
Elaine Van de Wille, who finished the day with four shots. Adams State would end the day with thirteen total shots. Moore would end the day with five total saves.
With the draw, the Grizzlies are now 7-6-1 (4-5-1 RMAC).
Adams State returns home on October 28
