LAS VEGAS, N.M. (November 12, 2016) – Adams State University amassed 638 yards of total offense as the defense caused three turnovers in a 50-40 win over New Mexico Highlands University to conclude the 2016 season.
The Grizzlies (2-8, 2-8 RMAC) combined for 36 points in the second and third quarter after falling behind 14-7 after the opening stanza. Jorge Hernandez and
Phil Romero led the charge against the Cowboys as the duo connected for three touchdowns in the second quarter. Romero hauled in touchdown receptions of 31-, 73-, and 59-yards as the offense caught traction to turn in a big performance. Romero's 73-yard score gave ASU their first lead at 20-14 towards the end of the second quarter. The Grizzlies would never trail moving forward after the score.
