VB| RMAC Tournament Vs Colorado Mines Preview

ALAMOSA, Colo. (November 14th, 2016) – The Adams State University volleyball team travels to Golden, Colorado tomorrow for the 1st round of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament. The 7th seeded Grizzlies will play the #2 seeded Colorado School of Mines at 7:00pm.  
 
Recently For Adams State VB:
The Grizzlies have a 7-2 record over the last 9 games, 3 of those being sweeps. Last week, Adams State was victorious over CSU-Pueblo and Western State 3-2 and 3-0 respectively. Mallory Grimsrud had 35 kills over those 2 games. Katelyn Schwartz added 40 assists during the same games.   
 
About Colorado Mines:
The Orediggers are the defending RMAC tournament champions. The team defeated Colorado Mesa on November 21st of last year to capture their 1st ever RMAC tournament championship. Colorado Mines is 21-6 (15-3 RMAC) entering this postseason. The Orediggers are led by Alanna Winfield with 334 season kills and Marina Hansen with 848 season assists.  
 
Previous Meetings: The Grizzlies have met the Orediggers twice this season, with CSM winning both games. On October 8th, Adams was swept by Mines 3-0. Mallory Grimsrud recorded 7 blocks in the losing effort.
On November 4th the Orediggers jumped out to a quick 6-1 lead in the first set on their way to a 25-18 win. A very hard fought second set went in to extra points when Rachael Ringler scored to put the Grizzlies up 25-24. Needing to win the set by 2, the teams went back and forth all the way to 31, when CSM hit an ace to finish the set 31-29 and take a 2-0 lead into the break. Adams State refused to be swept in the third, pulling out a 25-20 victory. In the fourth set, the Orediggers were too strong and came away with the 25-17 win to end the game.
 
Looking Ahead: If Adams State pulls the upset, they will play the winner of #3 UCCS and #6 Colorado Christian on Friday, November 18th in the RMAC semifinals. If the Grizzlies lose, the 2016 season will come to an end.
