GRAND JUNCTION, COLO. (December 10th, 2016) --- The Adams State women's basketball team faced a tough challenge against the 6-1 Mavericks of Colorado Mesa, losing 45-75 in tonight in Grand Junction.

The Grizzlies would lead by 4 in the first after a
Lejla Hadzialijagic layup with 2:15 remaining. The Mavericks would hit a jumper near the end of the quarter to take a narrow 16-15 lead into the second.

Mesa would pull away from the Grizzlies in the second. The Maverick's Holly Brooks nailed a 3 just before the half to increase their lead to a comfortable 15 points. CMU led 36-21 at halftime. Mesa's halftime lead was due in part to the 4 three pointers they hit in the first half and their 46.9% field goal shooting.

A lot of the same occurred in the third with Mesa leading by 20 plus for the most of the quarter. Heading into the fourth, the Grizzlies trailed the Mavericks 32-52.

The fourth fell apart for Adams as they went on to lose by 30. The final score was 75-45. The Mavericks were led by Bryanna Adams and Ma'ata Epenisa who had 16 points each and combined for 12 rebounds. Â
Cydney McHenry led the Grizzlies with 13 points, 3 steals, and 6 rebounds. CMU would dominate at the 3 point line hitting 11-33 for the game.

The team will return home for a contest against Fort Lewis on December 12
th. Tipoff is set for 5:30pm. Â
