ALAMOSA, Colo. (December 27th, 2016) – The Adams State University women's basketball team conclude the 2016 calendar year on the road against Colorado Christian University on December 30th and Chadron State College on December 31st. The CCU game is set for 5:30pm and the CSC game is slated for a 4:00pm start.

Recently For Adams State Women's Basketball:
The Grizzlies are still searching for their first Division II and RMAC win of the season. The only victory thus far has come against Northern New Mexico College of the NAIA division. In the last outing, the team was narrowly defeated by a hot shooting Westminster by a score of 75-84. Adams State will enter the contests with a 1-8 overall record and a 0-6 RMAC record.

About Colorado Christian:
The Cougars enter Friday's game with a 4-7, 2-4 RMAC record. The team most recently squeaked out a 53-50 win over Metropolitan State on December 17th. Oddly, the Cougars are a better team on the road this season than they are at home. CCU has only one of their four wins occur at home this year, which will play in the Grizzlies' favor. The Cougars are led by Alex Nelson, Claire Paxton, and Kaitlyn Hinch who all average double digit scoring a game.

Last Meeting: The Grizzlies went 0-2 in two meetings with the Cougars last season.
The December 11th meeting in Alamosa saw the Grizzlies fall by a score of 41-73. In that game, the Cougar's offensive triple-threat attack of Alex Nelson, Claire Paxton, and Ali Meyer were too much to handle. Each player scored in double-digit margins while Nelson, led the team with 14 points scored. The Grizzlies were led by Cydney McHenry who scored 10 points in the night's affair from 2-6 shooting, and a perfect 6-6 from the charity stripe tonight. DeShea Wilkes chipped in with eight points coming off the bench.
A little less than a year ago was the second meeting of the season on January 9th, 2016. In that game, Adams State was unable to find a defensive answer for the entire CCU offense. The Cougars had five players score in double figures on the night as Chandler Sturms led the team with a game-high 20 point performance. The Cougars were able to use a fluid offensive attack to amass as much as 20 point lead. Cougar center Ali Meyer nearly out rebounded the entire Adams State team with her 16 rebounds.

About Chadron State:
The Eagles are 2-7, on the season with both wins coming within the RMAC. Chadron also played a game against Division I Wyoming, with similar results as Adam's own game against Wyoming. Like Colorado Christian, the Grizzlies may have a better chance against Chadron at the Eagles' home court where the Eagles have actually not won a game all season. Erin Graham will be the player to watch for Chadron. She averages 12.4 points per game and shoots 75% from the free throw line. Kalli Feddersen averages a similar 12.3 points per game while averaging nearly 7 rebounds a game also.
Last Meeting: The teams met only once last season on January 29th. The Eagles won that meeting in a 57-78 blowout. In the second half of that one, the Eagles offensive production rose, as the team converted 60 percent (18-30) of their shots from the field in comparison to the Grizzlies 36.7 percent (11-30).  ASU's Allen cashed in seven of the Grizzlies eleven baskets in the second half and picked up 17 of her 23 points in the second stanza. A large part of their offensive success was due to Maka Daysh, who scored 14 of her 20 points in the second half alone. Her back-up Maddie Metzger, chipped in 12 points in the second half as well.

Looking Ahead: The Grizzlies will open 2017 with a trip to Colorado Springs to take on UCCS at 5:30pm on January 6th, 2017.
