DENVER-The 2016 Rocky Mountain Atheltic Conference doubleheader on Saturday ended on a high note for the Adams State University softball team as they escaped from Metro State with a split on Saturday. They lost the first game 6-3 before rebounding with a 2-1 win in the second game.
In the first game, Adams State jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first with a sacrifice fly from
Marissa Harmon. The Roadrunners then scored three unearned runs in the bottom of the first before a sacrifice fly, another unearned run, in the bottom of the second inning.Â
Gabrielle Griego homered in the fourth inning while
Tyler Hays homered in the fifth inning to round out Adams State's runs in the game.
In the second game, Kaitlin Hoffman threw a gem as she won her first game of the season as she only allowed one run in the bottom of the third inning, a sacrifice bunt.
The Grizzlies got their two runs from singles, as Griego got an RBI in the top of the first and then
Kalin Johnson got the final one in the top of the fifth.
The Grizzlies, now 1-1 in RMAC play and 3-11 on the season, will continue the 4-game series on Sunday starting at 11 a.m.
