MBB | Regular Season Ends With Lopsided Defeat To No. 8 Skyhawks

DURANGO, Colo. (February 26, 2016) – Behind 16 three-pointers and a 56 percent (33-58) shooting clip from the field, the No. 8 Fort Lewis College Skyhawks proved to be too much for Adams State University in their regular season finale.

With the 103-73 loss, the Grizzlies conclude the regular season with a 13-14 overall record and a 12-10 mark in RMAC play. ASU now shifts focus to their Tuesday RMAC Tournament quarterfinal matchup in Golden against the Colorado School of Mines. Stay updated with www.asugrizzlies.com for further information about Tuesday's game once it is announced.

With a heavy dose of three-pointers from the Skyhawks, ASU trailed the entire duration of the game and trailed by as much as 43 points at one point during the second half. Fort Lewis was exceptionally hot in the opening stanza by shooting 64 percent (18-28) as Adams State was on the opposite end of the spectrum at a 32 percent (16-34) clip.

Helping FLC to pull away was a 6 minute, 18 second span for the Grizzlies without a field goal in the first half. The dry spell propelled FLC to a 29-8 lead with 10:31 left before halftime. The game would remain out of reach for ASU from that point forward; ultimately resulting in the team's largest margin of defeat for a regular season game during the 2015-16 campaign.

Bryan Umoru and Jake Buck paced ASU offensively with 14 and 11 points, respectively. Vitor Machado added 9 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists in a losing effort.
FLC's Kofi Josephs tallied a game-high 21 points by way of draining 7 three-pointers as Joshua Blaylock finished with 20 points and 4 three-pointers. In total, five FLC players finished in double figures.

As stated earlier, the Grizzlies now prep for a Tuesday night quarterfinal matchup in the RMAC Tournament against Colorado School of Mines.
