MLAX| Grizzlies wrap up Sunshine State road trip with loss to Spartans

TAMPA, Fla. (March 25th, 2016)—The Adams State University Grizzlies men's lacrosse team wrapped up their Sunshine State roadtrip with a 20-3 loss to the  No. 3 University of Tampa Spartans.

The first quarter of play saw the Spartans draw first blood with their goal at the 11:54 mark to give them selves an early 1-0 lead over Adams State. However, that goal would be answered by Reece Sullivan, off of an assist by Seth Stowell to tie the game up at 1-1.
Tampa would then go on a four-goal unanswered run to end the quarter and put them selves up 5-1 over the Grizzlies.

The second quarter belonged to the Spartans, as they added on six more unanswered goals to go up 11-1 heading into half time.

Stowell got the Grizzlies on the board to start the third quarter with his goal just two minutes into the second half, off of an assist by Morgan Osbourne. Stowell's goal cut Tampa's lead to 11-2.

The Spartans would go up 12-2 before Collin Cranfield would answer back with 3:32 left before the final quarter of play. However, Tampa would find the back of the net twice more before the fourth to go up 14-3.

The Spartans got things started in the final stanza with an early goal just thirty-eight seconds into the fourth, and would then add on six more goals to end the game.

Grizzly goal tender, Connor Johnson, ended the day with fourteen saves, off of 34 shots on goal. Adams State tallied 22 shots, while going 17 for 19 on clears. Out of their 22 shots, 9 were on goal. 

Adams State takes to the field again on April 3rd, when they return to home field to host the Notre Dame de Namur University Argonauts. Game time is set for a 1:00 pm start.
