PUEBLO—Despite scoring the first runs in all four of this weekend's pivotal Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference games with Colorado State University-Pueblo, the Adams State University Softball team was unable to salvage a single game as the ThunderWolves swept the Grizzlies.
On Saturday, the Grizzlies dropped two tough games as they lost in a run-rule five inning affair with the ThunderWolves, 9-1 before an error in the bottom of the eighth inning hurt the Grizzlies and they dropped the game 7-6.
On Sunday, the Grizzlies saw five unearned runs hurt them in the first game as the ThunderWolves confidence helped them earn an 11-2 walk-off win in the sixth inning. In the second game seven unearned runs in the fifth inning proved deadly as they fell 9-2.
The Grizzlies will return home next Saturday and Sunday for a four-game series with New Mexico Highlands University. Saturday's games, which are dubbed as Parents' Day is set to start at 12 p.m. while Sunday's Senior Day festivities are set to start at 11 a.m.

April Riggins nailed a single to right field to allow
Gabrielle Griego to score.
Unfortunately, for Adams State, the ThunderWolves tied the game up in the bottom of the inning before rallying for eight runs, seven of them unearned, in the bottom of the fifth inning to aid in the walk off win for CSU-Pueblo. The Grizzlies' lone error came in the fifth and decisive inning.
ASU appeared that that they were going to have a stellar bounce back game in the second game of the doubleheader as they scored two runs in the top of the second inning on a 2-run RBI from
Alexandria Quintana to score
Kelsi Kautz and Riggins.
The ThunderWolves rebounded and a 3-run blast in the bottom of the fourth inning gave them a 3-2 lead.
Marissa Harmon then nailed a solo home run in the top of the sixed before a single from Quintana allowed Riggins to score unearned,
Paige Reichmuth then singled through the right side before she stole second base and allowed Quintana to score.
With a 6-3 lead, the Grizzlies were unable to hold on to the lead as they allowed a single run in the bottom of the sixth inning before two more runs scored in the bottom of the seventh inning before the game winning run the bottom of the eighth.
In the opening game of Sunday's doubleheader, Harmon got ASU on the board with a first inning blast, her eighth of the season.
Two Grizzly errors in the bottom of the third inning led to four unearned runs including three coming on a 3-run home run.
Again in the bottom of the fourth inning, two errors cost the Grizzlies another run across the plate.
Two more runs scored in the bottom of the fifth before a walkoff home run in the bottom of the sixth inning saw CSU-Pueblo celebrate the nine-run win over ASU.
In the second game on Sunday, Harmon again started as the catalyst as she nailed a 2-run single up the middle to score
Kalin Johnson and Reichmuth to make the score 2-0.
Neither team scored until another error came back to haunt ASU as seven unearned runs crossed the plate in the bottom of the fifth inning as 13 batters went to the plate to make the score 7-2.
The CSU-ThunderWolves closed out the game by scoring two more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Overall on the weekend, of CSU-Pueblo's 36 runs, 20 of them were unearned thanks in part to 11 errors by the Grizzlies on the weekend.
Adams State was led offensively by
Marissa Harmon, who hit .583 and was 7-of-12 from the plate. She scored two runs as she had 4 RBI and two home runs on the weekend.
In the circle, Adams State saw both
