ALAMOSA, Colo. (September 16th, 2016) --- A heated contest this afternoon saw the ASU Grizzlies give the 12
th ranked Regis Rangers all they can handle. In total, the 2 teams combined for 31 fouls and 4 yellow cards and was a very physical game.
Regis got on the board first at the 35:39 with a header from their 6'6 Tom Grimley. 0-1 would be the halftime score. The Rangers would add to their lead early in the second half with another goal, again by Grimley. At the 60:33 mark, the Grizzlies'
Leo Barba cut into the lead with an assist by
Symon Fabbricatore. A very up tempo attempt to tie the game throughout the rest of the half fell short as Regis held on for the win.
Coach
Brett Bentley had this to say: "" I am pleased with how we matched up with a talented Regis team today. We knew coming in that they would be tough but the boys trust our system and know that if we're great at what we do then no one is out of our league. I'm disappointed that we didn't get more from the game but if we continue to play as well as we are then results will come. We will get back to work tomorrow and make sure we're sharper in all areas because we know every game from here on out will be a challenge."
The men's soccer team returns to the ASU Soccer Field this Sunday, September 18
th to face the South Dakota School of Mines at 12:00pm.
