GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (January 4th, 2017) --- The Adams State wrestling team finally faced an individual school today after having wrestled in large tournaments since November 5
th. Unfortunately, the hosts of Colorado Mesa would take the bout 36-14 to start the Grizzlies off at 0-1 for the year.

In the 133 pound weight class
Martin Ramirez was victorious with a 16-0 tech fall over Michael McDanial. Brett Kasprzyk of CMU would answer in the 141 pound weight class with a fall over
Sage Budd. Mesa would then put together 2 more falls in a row to take a sizable lead as Kyle Kintz pinned
Devin Vasquez in the 149 class and Payton Tawater pinned
Gavin Davy in the 157 class.

Things would not get much better for Adams.
Wyatt Robinson lost by tech fall 27-12 at the 165 weight level. The next match would be fairly close, but ASU's
Koery Windham lost a 7-5 decision to Bruno Nicoletti. Adams would finally get back on the board by way of the 285 pound senior,
Tuli Laulu. Laulu won a decision over Clayton Voytilla 8-3 to give Adams the last of its 14 points on the day.
