ALAMOSA, Colorado– The Adams State University volleyball team will play its games this week on weekdays instead of the traditional Friday/Saturday format. The first game will be on the road at Fort Lewis this Tuesday at 7:00PM. The team will end the week with a home match against Westminster at 7:00PM.
Recently In Adams State Volleyball:
The Grizzlies ended a four game home stand with a 3-0 win after losing the previous three. The win came Saturday over Chadron State to improve ASU to 8-11 overall. Adams State currently sits at eighth in the RMAC with a 4-6 record.
About Fort Lewis:
The Skyhawks are a similar 8-10, 3-7 RMAC. They are currently on a four game losing streak. They faced the Grizzlies' last opponent (Chadron) in a 0-3 losing effort on October 13
th. Strangely enough the Skyhawks are favored more on the road. The team is only 1-5 at home which could play in ASU's favor. Bailey Longacre will likely lead the offensive attack with her 157 kills on the season.
Last Meeting:
The last meeting on October 18
th, 2016 went very well for Adams who ended things in three sets.
Mallory Grimsrud had 14 kills that night while
Rachael Ringler added 41 assists.
About Westminster:
The Griffins are on a five game losing streak and only boasts a 5-13 record. The most recent losses were to Black Hills and S.D. Mines, who the Grizzlies beat a combined 6-2. Westminster will be led by a sensational freshman in Audrey Green with 189 season kills.
Last Meeting:
The Grizzlies won the last meeting on October 21
st, 2016 by a score 3-1.
Katelyn Schwartz put up 39 assists in the winning effort. Briannah Mariner had 20 kills.
