VB| Win Streak Extends To Three With 3-1 Win Over Westminster

Alamosa, Colorado. - The Adams State University volleyball team (10-11, 6-6 RMAC) continue to turn things around after a midseason slump with their third straight win tonight in Alamosa. Westminster (5-15, 2-10 RMAC) never really stood a chance, though they did sneak out of the third with an upset and were ultimately outmatched in the 3-1 contest.

The Grizzlies started the first set on a 5-1 run and would never look back. Later in the set a 7-1 run effectively put it out of reach on the way to a 25-20 win. More of the same occurred in the second highlighted by ASU's 11-5 finish. The Griffins would not go down quietly as they stole the third set 25-23 to set up a fourth. The final set was essentially a blow out, though the Griffins made a late push. With Adams leading 23-14 Westminster scored five of the next six but it would be too little too late. Adams with the win moves into seventh place in the RMAC.

Rachel Ringler continues to impress with 51 assists on the night and even added two kills off of fake sets. Mallory Grimsrud, Shannon Mulkey, and Julianna Zamora led the offensive attack combining for 37 of the team's 59 kills. Hannah Goddard and Gabrielle Timmen held things down defensively with 18 digs each. Amara Spere played well for the Griffins with 16 kills and four block assists.

The Grizzlies will play the next four games on the road before returning home to close out the season. The road trip will begin next Friday against CSU-Pueblo at 7:00PM.
