ALAMOSA – The Adams State University women's soccer team came out victorious against Fort Lewis College in its last home game of the season. Adams defeated Fort Lewis 2-1 Sunday afternoon.
Adams State took control early on with a breakaway goal by Kendall Weld in the 14th minute of the match. Lacey Daniel added to the lead with a cross past the defender into the net.
Fort Lewis answered back with a header from Alicia Sanchez in the 76th minute but the Grizzlies held onto the 2-1 lead to earn the win.
Sundays' match was also Adams State's senior game, celebrating Teagan Moore and Lacey Daniel's careers at Adams State. In her final match at home, Moore earned three saves. Daniel earned her second goal of the season and 10th of career in her final match on ASU Field.
With the win, Adams State now sits in 11th place in the RMAC standings, just one game behind eighth-place Fort Lewis. The Grizzlies will finish its' season on the road with matches against Colorado School of Mines and Colorado Christian University.
