PUEBLO – It was a long night in Pueblo for Adams State University's football team, who fell 17-63 Saturday night to No.14-ranked CSU-Pueblo. The Grizzlies were held to a season-low 348 total yards of offense, while letting up the second-most yards this season in 495 yards.

For the first time in his career at Adams State,
Nick Rooney was held to just 166 yards. He also threw his second pick of the season, which was returned 99 yards for a touchdown. Nine passes were broken up, as the quarterback threw for 18 of 37, with
Jorge Hernandez stepping in the second half in relief. Hernandez was 10-22 for 93 yards and a touchdown.

The Pueblo ground game was on, as Marche Dennard ran for 155 yards on 15 carriers. For every five touches Dennard found the end zone, finishing with three rushing touchdowns. He had touchdown runs of 25 and 42 yards.

Also for the Pack, Austin Micci ran for 111 yards on 15 carries, hitting pay dirt once.

For the Grizzlies,
Marquese Surrell led the team with seven receptions for 71 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Jimmy Holtrop caught four balls for 63 yards, while
Chad Hovasse had six catches for 52 yards.

On the ground,
Corey Brown and
Tyree Harris both had 46 yards rushing. Brown carried the ball 13 times, while Harris had seven touches.

Defensively,
Garrett Jackson jumped back into action with 10 tackles to lead the team. He also had a tackle for loss.

Surrell will continue to be in the top-rankings in the nation in all-purpose yards, as he had seven kick returns for 138 yards.

The Thunderwolves finished in the end zone on nine of 13 drives, with two of those drives ending with the end of the two halves. The other two drives ended in a fumble and a punt.

Adams State looks to shake this loss off, as the team hits the road against West Texas A&M next weekend in Canyon, Texas. West Texas is the only team to beat CSU-Pueblo this year.
