ALAMOSA – The Adams State University women's basketball team won its' first home game of the season against Central Christian College Wednesday night.

Adams State defeated Central Christian by a whopping 37 points, 92-55. Adams State took the lead in the first half and never looked back, outscoring Central Christian by 22 points in the first half. The Grizzlies shot 51 percent from the field and 37 percent from three. Adams State's stifling defense held Central Christian to just 31 percent shooting from the field and only 16 percent from three.

Adams State increased its' lead by 15 in the second half with its' biggest lead at 45 points. The Grizzlies had five girls score in double figures while the Tigers only had two. The Grizzlies had an incredible 46 points come from off the bench in Saturday night's game. Adams State led Central Christian in points in the paints as well, 54-22.

Stephanie Ruiz and Macy Meyers led the team with 15 points apiece, with Ruiz notching her first double-double with a team-high 10 boards.
Lejla Hadzialijagic added 14 points, while Nicole Mortensen had 11 points. Mortensen was one board shy of a double-double.

This is the first time in four years that the Adams State womens' basketball team starts its' season off with a win. The Grizzlies will look to continue its' win streak Saturday night against Northern New Mexico College. The game begins at 6pm in Plachy Hall.
