ST CHARLES, MO. (March 20th, 2017) --- The Adams State men's lacrosse team was on the road yesterday to take on No. 4 ranked Lindenwood. Even though the upset was within reach by the end of three, the Lions exploded to an 18-6 finish.
David Corazalla got the Lions on the board first with a pair of goals to give them an early 2-0 lead.
Michael Vaeth would answer with an assist from
Morgan Osborne late in the first quarter. From there, Lindenwood would go on a 3-0 run that lasted late into the half.
Collin Cranfield ended the run for Adams State with only 2:38 remaining until halftime. Still, the Grizzlies found themselves down by three. The Lions would score twice more in the final two minutes to take a 7-2 lead at the half.
A few Lindenwood goals later had the Grizzlies facing a 9-2 deficit with 10:04 remaining in the third. Refusing to stay down, the Grizzlies put together a 3-0 run by way of
Danny Krieble,
Morgan Osborne, and
Sloan Wiggins to enter the fourth down 9-5. The final period would not be kind to the Grizzlies however. The Lions rattled off a 9-1 run to thwart any hopes of a comeback bid and secure their national ranking.
All of Adams State's goals came from six different players. David Corazalla led the Lions with five goals on 11 shots.
Connor Johnson had 11 saves on the night for ASU.
The team heads south for their next game against the University of Alabama at Huntsville tomorrow. That game will begin at 6:00PM Mountain Time.
