Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

MLAX| Lindgren Era Begins With A 12-9 Win Over CSU-Pueblo

PUEBLO, Colo. (March 4th, 2017) --- The Adams State men's lacrosse team had a thriller on the road to open up the 2017 season. Facing Colorado State Pueblo in front of their home crowd with Coach Keith Lindgren coaching his first game for the Grizzlies was no easy task. Fortunately, Adams State was able to outlast the ThunderWolves for the 12-9 win.

Adams State would jump on top early with a goal from Nick Brown and an assist from Michael Vaeth. Several minutes later, Vaeth would score his own goal to put the Grizzlies up 2-0. Both players are freshmen, making them the first goals of their ASU careers. Cody Bolen got CSU-Pueblo on the board off an assist from Nick Matzek. Emmitt MacFarlane would keep Adams on top by adding two goals to end the first and start the second. Trailing 4-1 in the second period, the ThunderWolves would connect on a goal from Nick Matzek to make it 4-2. Nearing the end of the first half, Pueblo would go on a three goal run that went into the early portion of the third period. That run gave the home team their first lead of the game.

Trailing for the first time, Emmitt MacFarlane and Kale Wilson would score a pair of goals to put ASU back on top 8-7. The game would be tied two more times over the next six minutes. With only two minutes remaining in the third, Adams State would take control for the remainder of the game. Sloan Wiggins, Collin Cranfield, and Michael Vaeth all scored on the Grizzly's three goal run to put the game away by a 12-9 final.

The Grizzlies were led by Emmitt MacFarlane's three goals and four ground balls. Blake Foerster, Cody Bolen, Taylor Davis, and Weston Bartgis all had two goals each for the ThunderWolves. CSUP actually had more shots on goal for the afternoon 29-26, luckily Connor Johnson was able to produce 20 saves. Pueblo was able to secure more ground balls 32-26 and both teams had 23 turnovers.

The Grizzlies will make their 2017 home debut this Thursday, March 9th against Rockhurst University at 12:00pm.
