GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (April 23rd, 2017) --- The Adams State men's lacrosse team faced a tough challenge on the road against the RMAC's best team, No. 18 Colorado Mesa. The game was pretty competitive, but the Mavericks came away with the 10-4 win.
Â
Kale Wilson got things started for the Grizzlies (5-6, 4-5 RMAC) with an unassisted goal. Unfortunately, an 8-0 run for Colorado Mesa (13-2, 8-1 RMAC) would follow the early Adams State goal. The run would end midway through the third period when
Morgan Osborne and
Garrett Chitwood scored back to back goals for the Grizzlies. Mesa's Jack Griffin answered those goals to give the Mavericks a 7 point lead.
Michael Vaeth would add the game's final goal off an assist from
Emmitt MacFarlane. Neither team scored in the final 10 minutes as the Mavericks held on for a 10-4 win.
Â
Joe Quatrochi had a solid game for ASU going 7-17 on the faceoff and collecting three ground balls.
Connor Johnson made 16 saves on the day as well. Jack Griffin led the Mavericks with four goals, one assist, and three ground balls. As a team, Adams State forced 14 turnovers and grabbed 26 ground balls. Â Â
Â
The team will wrap up the regular season next Saturday at home against CSU-Pueblo. Game time is scheduled for 3:00PM. Â Â
