ALAMOSA, Colo. (May 7, 2017) – Offensive production remained a focal point during Sunday's series finale as Adams State University faced Colorado State University-Pueblo.

On Sunday, ASU took a 2-0 lead after one frame via RBI doubles from Marco Garmendia and Thomaslee Mares. The lead vanished as the ThunderWolves (23-24, 17-16 RMAC) produced a five-run third inning. CSU-Pueblo posted another run in the fourth but ASU responded in the bottom of the frame with a Tyler Bybee RBI single. The Grizzlies cut their deficit to 6-5 with two runs in the fifth thanks to a two RBI home run to left center by Mares.
Unfortunately, CSU-Pueblo posted three runs in the sixth and four more in the seventh to take a 13-5 advantage. The Grizzlies did not fall silent as they answered with four runs of their own in the bottom of the seventh to remain a threat and pull closer at 13-9.
The ThunderWolves went on to add an additional four runs in the eighth and another run in the ninth but production continued for ASU as well with a two-run eighth and a four-run ninth highlighted by pinch hit RBI at-bats by Tony Stanich, Cody Guillory, and Brian Brown. Stanich provided a RBI double with Guillory chipping in a RBI single. Meanwhile, Brown sent a two RBI home run over the right field fence.
Mares finished the day 4-for-5 with four RBI and three runs scored. The senior connected for two doubles and a home run in his final collegiate game. Evan Weidner, Garmendia, and Grant Templin each posted two hits in defeat. In total, 12 ASU batters recorded a hit during the RMAC slugfest.
Dylan Sherry (0-3) picked up the loss in a starting role as Daniel Brennan, Beau Lofink, Dalton Carleo, and Brett Aker all made a relief appearance.
