ALAMOSA— Adams State University men's soccer team claimed its first victory of the season Thursday afternoon at ASU Soccer Field. Adams State edged out Eastern New Mexico University 1-0.

The tightly fought match was settled off of the boot of
Mario Castro, scoring in the 69
th minute. The match, a toughly fought one, featured 33 total fouls, seven cards and an ejection.

The first half was evenly contested with both schools having put up eight shots a piece and no goals. Adams recorded three saves, while Eastern New Mexico earned four. There were 19 combined fouls in the first half with Adams surrendering seven and Eastern New Mexico a dozen.

Castro's goal came off of a
Leo Barba shot that rebounded off the goalie. Castro put the goal in, crossing all the way from right to left in front of the downed goalie. This gave Adams its' first win of the season, and a 3-1 series record over Eastern the past four seasons.
