ALAMOSA – The Adams State University women's soccer team received its' first tie of the season against the University ofTexas – Permian Basin University Sunday afternoon on the ASU Soccer Field.
In the ninth minute of action, Adams State's
Braquelle Calley earned her first goal of the season with a line drive off the post into the back of the net. The play also earned
Kendall Weld her first assist for the season.
It wasn't long until Texas – Permian Basin tied it up at 1-1 with a goal from Deonna Green in the 18
th minute. The score would remain even at one a piece through regulation and two overtime periods.
The intensity began to rise in the second half as the shot attempts nearly doubled from the first half, 13-7. The physicality was apparent between the teams as Texas – Permian Basin's Tyra Williams and McKenna Peters each received yellow cards.
As even as the teams were throughout the game, Adams State would stand atop in corner kicks, earning six to only one by Texas – Permian Basin. Goalkeepers,
Teagan Moore and Chenoa Crites finished the match with a combined 13 saves on 25 shots.
The Adams State Grizzlies will take the field again September 15
th in Taos, NM.
