ALAMOSA, Colorado– The Adams State University volleyball team hits the road for a pair of games this weekend in Denver and Colorado Springs. The team will play at Metro State on Friday at 7:00PM and at UCCS Saturday at 5:00PM.
Recently In Adams State Volleyball:
The Grizzlies are off to a hot start in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference sitting at 2-0 and 6-5 overall. 2-0 is currently good for a second place tie in the conference after last weekend's wins over South Dakota Mines and Black Hills State. The team swept SD-Mines 3-0 last Friday and defeated BHSU in five sets on Saturday.
About Metro State Denver:
The Roadrunners are 4-6 on the year with only one win at home. Their last win came in last Saturday's 3-1 win over Chadron State in Nebraska. Don't let their record fool you however, MSUD has had to play against the #6, #3, #16, and #21 nationally ranked teams already this year so they are no stranger to elite competition.
Last Meeting:
The last contest between the two teams was on September 23
rd, 2016 in Alamosa. The Roadrunners swept the game 3-0. The Grizzlies struggled that night with nobody reaching double digits in kills or digs.
About UCCS:
The Cougars are also 4-6 this season but have had a tough opening schedule as well. The team has already played the #8, #19, #12, and #21 nationally ranked teams. They even scored an upset over #12 Wayne State 3-0. The Cougars boast a little more of a home court advantage at 3-1 in Springs. UCCS will have a Friday game before the matchup with Adams at home vs Fort Lewis.
Last Meeting:
The last time these teams met, it went into five sets with the Grizzlies coming out on top. ASU put it away in the fifth after
Mallory Grimsrud laid down a kill off an assist from
Katelyn Schwartz to give them a 15-13 win.
