GUNNISON - Adams State University women's soccer fell to rival Western State Colorado University Friday afternoon in Gunnison, 1-2, in overtime. Adams will look to recoup as it hosts the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs Sunday at noon.
Things were looking well for the Grizzlies, as the team scored the first goal of the game in the 25th minute.
Lourdes Padilla scored her first goal of the season on a
Shayla Reeves assist to take the first half lead.
Things turned in the final minutes, as Paige Massey scored her third goal of the season in the 87th minute to send the game to overtime with an assist from Ingrid Alvarez. After the five minute break, it took just another minute of play for Alvarez to sink the ball in the net to end the game.
This is a heartbreak for the Grizzlies, as this is the third time in the past five matchups that the Mountaineers have scored past the 75th minute to take the win.Â
