ODESSA, Texas – It took a couple of minutes in overtime, but the Adams State University men's soccer have continued its perfect streak win a win over the University of Texas-Permian Basin. The team scored two goals in the victory, moving them to 3-0 on the season.
The scoring was started by Texas Permian-Basin in the 13
th minute. Their forward split two defenders and put the ball in. The Grizzlies rallied back, scoring a goal in the 35
th minute off of one of their seven corner kicks.
Ruben Molinar put the ball into play, and
Austin Rios put the ball in the back of the net for his first goal of the season. Rios, who started the first game at goalie, is one of the Grizzlies star defenders.
The winning goal came up in the second minute of overtime when
Leo Barba put a loose ball past the goalie in the upper left of the goal. The goal is the center fielders first of the season.
The match was a physical one, with 35 fouls between the teams. Despite the physicality, there were no cards distributed in the match.
Adams dominated the field, earning seven corners while allowing none. The team also had 14 shots compared to allowing six.
