WBB | Promising weekend for Grizzlies as they take on Eagles and Rangers

ALAMOSA – The Adams State University women's basketball team (3-11 overall, 1-11 RMAC) will face the Chadron State College Eagles and the Regis University Rangers this upcoming weekend, January 19 and 20. The first match-up is set to begin at 5 PM, while the second will kick-off 5:30 PM.
 
Recently In Adams State Women's Basketball:
The women of Adams State are currently on a four-game losing streak in their RMAC season. Despite their negative record, the Grizzlies have played with heart and determination, falling to tough teams in multiple close finishes. In their most recent weekend, ASU traveled to South Dakota to take on South Dakota Mines and Black Hills State. In two well-played games, the Grizzlies fell to both teams with a final score of 58-72 and 53-71, respectively.
 
About Chadron State:
The Chadron State College Eagles (3-14 overall, 1-10 RMAC) women's basketball team currently holds a similar record to the Grizzlies in both pre-season and the RMAC. Like ASU, they have been struggling recently with a ten-game losing streak. In their most recent match-ups, the Eagles played the Western State Mountaineers and the Westminster College Griffins. Both games ended in a loss, with final scores of 57-59 and 53-70, respectively.
 
Last Meeting:
The Grizzlies met the Eagles once this season. In this match-up on December 30, 2017, ASU managed to capture their first conference win of the season, beating CSC handedly, 87-78. In this competition, Stephanie Ruiz had an impressive showing, recording 16 points and three assists. Brooke Neal and Lejla Hadzialijagic followed closely behind with 13 and 11 points, respectively. In addition, they dominated the defensive side of the court with three blocks and five steals.
 
About Regis University:
The Regis University Rangers (7-8 overall, 6-4 RMAC) currently hold a winning percentage in their season. Despite a present one-game losing streak, the Rangers have beat some tough teams this season including South Dakota School of Mines and Metropolitan State. In their most recent competitions, Regis split their games between Colorado Mesa and Westminster. Versus the Mavericks, the Rangers pulled out a win with a final score of 74-67. More recently, the Regis fell to a tough Westminster team, 63-71.
 
Last Meeting:
The Grizzlies faced the Rangers once last season in Plachy Hall. At the time of competition, Regis was ranked No.25 nationally, and ending up finishing fifth in the RMAC tournament. Despite their ranking, the Grizzlies battled with the Rangers, only falling to them 45-56. In their match-up, Lauren McDonald tallied eight points and one assist, while Madison Merschel recorded seven points, one block, and one steal.
